WHAT WE BUILD

Cold Storage Solutions
Built for Scale

Specialized facilities for every cold chain requirement

HOW WE BUILD

High-Performance Cold Storage Facilities

01

Consultation & Engineering

We start with your product specs, throughput requirements, and site conditions. Our team engineers the thermal envelope, refrigeration load, and structural system before a single panel goes up.

02

Fabrication & Construction

Insulated metal panel installation, refrigeration rough-in, electrical, concrete, and structural steel — all coordinated under one general contractor. No finger-pointing between trades.
03

Commissioning
& Handoff

Full system commissioning: every zone tested to spec, every seal verified, every compressor validated. We don’t hand over keys until the facility performs exactly as engineered.

THE PROBLEM

Most Contractors Aren't Built for Cold Storage

Most projects fail before they start. Thermal bridging ruins efficiency. Delivery schedules become fiction. Commissioning = temperature inconsistencies. Cold chain doesn’t forgive. -10°F instead of -20°F = lost product, lost compliance, lost trust.

We built US Cold Storage Builders because cold storage engineering isn’t construction with refrigeration bolted on. It’s physics, precision manufacturing, and proven sequencing.

WHY CHOOSE US

Why Cold Storage Builders Choose Us

Single-Source Accountability

One contract. One point of contact. We self-perform insulated panel installation, manage all mechanical trades, and deliver a fully operational facility — not just a shell.

Thermal Envelope Expertise

Insulated metal panels are the #1 failure point in cold storage. We specify, source, and install IMP systems rated for your exact temperature range and climate zone.

Real Cold Storage Experience

Our team has delivered 100,000+ SF in a single cold storage project. We understand refrigeration loads, vapor drive, frost heave prevention, and sub-zero commissioning.

Texas to Nationwide

Based in Houston with project capability across Texas and the US. Licensed, insured, and equipped for cold storage construction in any climate zone.

FAQ

Cold Storage Construction FAQ

How much does cold storage construction cost?

Cold storage construction typically ranges from $120 to $300 per square foot depending on temperature requirements, size, and complexity. Frozen storage (-20°F and below) costs more than refrigerated (28–45°F) due to thicker panel systems, heavier refrigeration loads, and frost heave prevention. We provide detailed project estimates after an initial consultation.

Most projects run 6 to 14 months from design to commissioning. The timeline depends on facility size, permitting, and equipment lead times. Insulated panels currently have 12–16 week lead times, and refrigeration equipment runs 16–24 weeks. Early planning significantly reduces overall project duration.

Yes. We manage the full process — structural engineering, MEP design, permit applications, inspections, and final certificate of occupancy. One contract covers everything from site prep to commissioning.

We build facilities ranging from +55°F coolers down to -40°F blast freezers. Multi-zone facilities with independent temperature control in each room are our specialty — our We Store Frozen project has 5 independent sub-zero rooms under one roof.

Yes. Box-in-box retrofits install insulated metal panel envelopes inside existing structures. This includes vapor barriers, new refrigeration, upgraded electrical, and frost heave prevention for the existing slab. Retrofits typically cost $80–$160 per square foot.

Yes. We’re based in Houston and serve all of Texas, with project capability nationwide. Our team has experience with climate-specific requirements across multiple states.
